Purpose

The purpose of the Jazz Band is to recreate and reimagine legendary jazz music rooted in African traditions, while also exploring new music to share. Jazz teaches students to do more than play what they see on the page; they are encouraged to create their own music through improvisation, developing new material on the spot. This selective extracurricular ensemble is about taking risks and collaborating.

Jazz band is under the direction of Ms. Costa and meets weekly on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:00p-3:45p
